Mimi Thorisson ? On ne la connaissait pas… The Paris Post l’a découverte à l’American Library in Paris… Mimi Thorisson! Un mari islandais, six enfants et 14 chiens. Et un blog somptueux. Elle cuisine depuis l’âge de 18 ans. Il y a deux ans, cette jolie franco-chinoise a posé ses valises dans le Médoc où elle vit avec sa « petite » famille. « Ce qu’elle préfère dans la vie, c'est manger ! », affirme Canal + qui l’a engagée pour présenter une émission à la télé, La Table de Mimi. Elle est très douée… , « celle de ma tante et de ma grand-mère dans le sud-ouest. Les marchés, les produits de saison... », raconte-t-elle : « J’aime la bonne cuisine rustique, conviviale, simple. Des plats comme la blanquette de veau et le Parmentier de canard -, les grands classiques. Du côté Chinois, j'aime surtout la cuisine Shanghaïaise, les raviolis xiao long bao à la vapeur, les petits déjeuners salés avec le lait de soja et les légumes croquants, les crevettes sautées au vin jaune... » Mimi sait aussi dresser une table magnifique avec trois fois rien. Et vous livre toutes ses recettes sur son blog. Son islandais de mari est excellent cuisinier : une ou deux fois par semaine, avec les enfants, ils préparent un petit festin, souvent italien.

Blogger and food writer Mimi Thorisson did just that when she moved from Paris with her photographer husband, Oddur Thorisson, and their family of 7 children and 14 dogs to Médoc in the southwest region of France.

Mimi started to blog about her life in Médoc, of which food and cooking played a big part. Her widely-read blog Manger was winner of the 2013 Saveur Best Food Blog - Best Regional Cuisine Blog. She has a cooking show on Cuisine+ and featured in many magazines including Elle, Bon Appetit,Vanity Fair, and Glamour, with recent features in the French Elle (July 2014) on "BARBECUE D'ÉTÉ CHEZ MIMI THORISSON." She will be talking about her first cookbook, A Kitchen in France: A Year of Cooking in my Farmhouse, along with her husband Oddur, who was the photographer for the book.

Mimi Thorisson has been deeply passionate about food since she was a girl growing up and scurrying between the restaurants of Hong Kong and the bistros of Paris and the south of France where she spent her holidays. After a life full of adventure and travel, a career in fashion, media and television, she settled down in Paris with Oddur, her Icelandic photographer husband. She later moved to Médoc where she seriously took up cooking and writing about her culinary adventures in her award-winning blog, Manger. She is also the star of La Table de Mimi and the upcoming Les Desserts de Mimi, both on Canal+ France.
